The elevated land around Tosside and nearby Gisburn Forest provides a wide-

Due to the area’s close proximity to the Forest of Bowland, it is not uncommon to see the rare Hen Harrier quartering the open moorland areas close to the village as it searches for prey.
• Wading Birds
The annual influx of migratory birds means that the area hosts a wide variety of wading birds during the Spring and Summer Seasons.
• Nature Conservancy
A joint project between a local landowner, Defra and RSPB has in recent years resulted
in an extensive area of the elevated moorland to the north of the village being designated
