A  friendly rural community enjoying life on the Lancashire / Yorkshire border...

•   Rural Location

Situated in rural North West England on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border, Tosside is a small rural community set in elevated and picturesque  countryside.

•   Fantastic Surroundings

Surrounded by the Yorkshire Dales to the East, the Forest of Bowland to the West, Ribble Valley / Pendle Hill to the South and the Lake District further afield to the West.  The village is to be found on the B6478 between the nearby small villages of Wigglesworth and Slaidburn.

•   Yorkshire/Lancashire Border

Historically part of Yorkshire, following County boundary changes in the 1970’s, the village is now very unusual in that it literally straddles the county border; the eastern part of the village is in Yorkshire and the western part of the village is in Lancashire!

•   Local Community - 200 Residents

The area within a two mile radius of the village typically comprises  upland farms and rural family homes. It is estimated that the immediate community numbers around 200 residents.

•   Modern Purpose-Built Community Hall

The friendly community has a very active social scene with a variety of family events organised throughout the year, all based in the modern purpose-built Community Hall.

•   Gisburn Forest and Stocks Reservoir

Bordering on Lancashire’s largest coniferous forest to the North of the village, Tosside is an ideal location from which to explore Gisburn Forest and nearby Stocks Reservoir, either on-foot or on one of the many off-road cycle trails.

•   Terrain

There is a proposal to install a wireless-based high-speed ADSL (“Broadband”) service into the area. The service would provide 10Mb/sec speeds compared to the current BT service offering only between 0.3Mb/sec & 2Mb/sec. For further details contact Ann Groves on  01729-840272.
